My fave band for almost 20 years and I’ve never seen them perform live in the flesh.
I’m not sure if they ever performed in Adelaide South Australia, where I lived before moving to Sydney in late 1994. I think Depeche Mode’s last visit to Australia was in early 1994.
Awesome news! They’re doing a world tour in 2009… Tour Of The Universe! A new album in the works too.
I’m going to see them this time, even if it means travelling OS. I wish I got to see them in the 80’s or 90’s. I wonder if they will ever return to Australia?
Saw them waaaay back in about ’99 (I think). Not trying to burst any bubles, but I wasn’t impressed. Seemed to be Dave Gahan trying to be Bono. Here’s hoping they’ve sorted themselves out from whatever they were trying to be, and just be Depeche Mode.

Paul, I think I just accidentally deleted your comment, please post again. You said you took photos of them at The Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide in 1994?
For some reason I have it in my mind, that Depeche Mode never made it to Adelaide, and cancelled their Thebarton Theatre date. Just found some old tour dates…

Not sure how correct that is, but it looks like 1994 was the only time DM has ever been to Australia. I’m sure they have played here more than once.

That’s crap and you know it! They played twice in Australia (that I know of). I went to both concerts in NSW with Rowena. First at the Hordern in 1990, and then in 1993 at The Entertainment Centre.
We are going to see them in Barcelona next year. Or I will NOT be happy!

Thanks Joanne, I didn’t see that Sydney date amongst the ‘World Violation Tour’ in 1990, that must have been the tour, where they cancelled all their other Australian dates, and only played Sydney.
